Position: Finance Specialist
Reports to: MN Finance Director
Hours: Full-Time, Hybrid
Salary: $26 per hour DOQ Competitive Benefits Package
JOB SUMMARY
Mother Nation is an Indigenous-led non-profit organization offering culturally informed healing services, mobile advocacy, mentorship, homelessness prevention case management, and support to MMIWP families' unmet needs. Our services celebrate and inspire the success of Native American women. Mother Nation services are custom-designed to honor the beauty and strength of Native women, with traditional practices, teachings and values built on the ancestral strength of each participant. Our goals are to ensure healing and wellness with cultural resilience offering quality service to change the dynamics of Native women and families from the impacts of historical and intergenerational trauma. Primary services are to stop the violence against Native women through culturally informed healing services, mobile advocacy and homeless emergency support.
The Finance Specialist will perform financial duties to support all fiscal operations of Mother Nation.

QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business management, or a related field is preferred, but not required with additional experience.
2 - 4 years of experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
Minimum of 1 year experience or knowledge working with a non-profit organization.
An equivalent combination of experience, education, and training may be substituted that would provide the required level of knowledge and ability to perform the position's essential duties and responsibilities.
Experience in accounts receivables and accounts payables duties.
Knowledge of understanding non-profit regulations and internal controls.
Experience with standard accounting framework like GAAP and grant rules
Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Well organized and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Ability to use professional judgment to solve problems.
Ability to prioritize and adapt to shifting priorities.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Self-starter with a positive can-do attitude.
Experience working with QuickBooks or other accounting software
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for compiling, organizing, and tracking expense receipts and entering financial data into QuickBooks.
Assist in recording donations and revenue from all other sources.
Assist with accounts receivable functions, including processing invoices, verifying payment information, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Maintain internal accounting controls to safeguard Mother Nation assets.
Maintain compliance with applicable nonprofit financial regulations, GAAP standards, and grant awards.
Conduct emergency support for Yeha:wi and Waátunwan Service Center with booking emergency hotels, transportation and other client assistance needs.
Monitor program expenditures and prepare financial analysis and reports for MN management.
Recordkeeping for monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial period closings.
Recordkeeping for various accounts in QuickBooks and Expensify.
Recording Petty Cash transactions in QuickBooks
Assist with internal and external audits and fiscal monitoring(s).
Data collection with bi-weekly payroll.
Assist the Finance Director and others with special projects as needed.
