Hours: Full Time
Salary: $23 to $25 per hour DOE
JOB SUMMARY
Mother Nation is an Indigenous led non-profit organization offering culturally informed healing services, mobile advocacy, mentorship, homeless, and homelessness prevention case management and support to MMIWP families unmet needs. Our services celebrate and inspire the success of Native American women. Mother Nation services are custom designed to honor the beauty and strength of Native women, with traditional practices, teachings and values built on the ancestral strength of each participant. Mother Nation is committed to always provide culturally based traditional teachings throughout all service areas.
Mother Nation is active in supporting local grassroots leadership such as Missing and Murdered Indigenous People, Sister Native Homeless Providers, Tribes and Non-Native agencies to build unity in providing safety to Indigenous women and homeless families. Our goals are to ensure healing and wellness with cultural resilience offering quality service to change the dynamics of Native women and families from the impacts of historical and intergenerational trauma. Primary services are to stop the violence against Native women through culturally informed healing services, mobile advocacy and homeless emergency support.
The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the Executive Director and front desk activities at Mother Nation working in a trauma informed care environment founded on traditional teachings and practices.
The successful candidate will be provided excellent training opportunities with traditional teachings, professional development, ceremonial leave, and a comprehensive health benefits package.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
· Answer daily calls, check voicemails, direct callers to appropriate programs, return calls and greet participants ensuring space is open and welcoming in a cultural setting
· Maintain office files, office supplies, calendar, and record incoming/outgoing mail
· Work as a team with Administration and Operations staff
· Assist in preparing Board of Directors packets, minutes, and filing.
· Coordinate Staff Talking Circles, Trainings, and site visits
· Actively participate in Mother Nation events including pow wows, healing the spirit gathering, and other events
· Check info@mothernation.org emails with referrals to various programs
· Provide administrative support/coordinate executive directors schedules, return calls, and emails
· Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
· Associate degree or two years equivalent work experience in a non-profit Native organization offering social services, gender-based violence, and homeless or similar services
· Strong oral and written communication skills;
· Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision;
· Sensitivity to the cultural integrity of Mother Nation clients and ability to maintain confidentiality
· Proficiency in 2010 Microsoft Office Suite
· Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care and/or multi-abuse trauma
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Indigenous Cultural or traditional knowledge/background
· Knowledge of general office procedures
· Dependable transportation with valid Washington State Driver’s License
· At least two years of experience in office coordination within a social services agency/organization working with Native American/Alaskan Native community
· Must be a team player
· Must be flexible to shifting priorities and ability to multi-task

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT
· Attend trainings with Mother Nation Elders and professional development as needed
· Join in team activities for Mother Nation events including pow wows, Healing the Spirit Gatherings, and other Tribal community events
· Collaborate with Mother Nation Leadership as needed with organizational development, including strategic planning and organizational structure
· Support leadership team to create partnerships to grow the infrastructure of the organization in services, advocacy, and staffing infrastructural needs
· Able to be flexible and adjust work hours to requirements of the organization with COVID-19 policies and procedures as required by Washington State Governor directives
