Mother Nation is seeking a seasoned program manager with experience working independently as well as collaboratively, interested in making a career investment by joining a strong leadership team to expand/develop a highly effective healing model serving indigenous women

PROGRAM INFORMATION:

For 10 years Mother Nation has been operating Spirit Journey House providing cultural healing, sexual assault advocacy, MMIW, homelessness prevention and intervention services, together with addiction intervention supports for Indigenous women and their families. The Spirit Journey project provides transitional housing and sobriety support integrated with sexual assault advocacy services for Indigenous women who are sexual assault survivors also struggling with addiction.  The National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center has identified Spirit Journey House as the model with the most effective results – 4 out of 5 Spirit Journey House relatives go on to maintain their sobriety, obtain permanent housing, employment and the reunification of their families.

Our healing model relies on the cultural support provided by Native elders and the sisterhood of the relatives participating in the program.  Because our program is so effective Mother Nation has had to wait-list relatives as capacity is small.  For this reason Mother Nation is in the process of expanding the existing program that can serve up to 5 women at a time in an existing house to serve 15 - 20 Indigenous women, 5 of whom will be able to have their children with them.

Mother Nation works closely with regional Tribes across the state and beyond.  Recognizing that healing often requires distance from their home reservations where drug traffic is a barrier to recovery, some tribes request services for their members at Spirit Journey House and we welcome their members into our care.  In recognition of the importance of Spirit Journey Village the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians (ATNI) has provided a Resolution of support for the project.
