JOB SUMMARY

Mother Nation operates as a trauma informed care organization grounded in the 7 Grandfather Teachings to strengthen the cultural integrity of Native American teachings with guidance from our Elders. Mother Nation is committed to always providing culturally based traditional teachings throughout all service areas.  Our services are built on the ancestral strength of each participant based on need and emotional support for survivors of multi-abuse trauma. 

The Yeha:wi Services Center includes mobile advocacy services, and an array of healing circles, groups and workshops for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, commercial sexual exploitation, and participants seeking support in recovery and child protection proceedings.  Locations to support include King County, and north Puget sound off-reserve locations in sexual assault, and other victims of crime participants. 

The Yeha:wi Program Assistant will perform administrative duties to support the Yeha:wi Service Center, advocates, Specialized Services Team Facilitators in north and south locations.

JOB DUTIES/RESONSIBILITIES:

 

·       Receiving visitors at the front desk by greeting, welcoming, directing and announcing them appropriately.

·       Answering, screening and forwarding incoming phone calls and emails.

·       Maintain Yeha:wi office supplies and cultural supplies.

·       Support Yeha:wi advocates and MMIWP program with client filing and file maintenance, ensuring that all files are kept up-to-date and organized.

·       Assist with client surveying.

·       Assist with purchasing for Yeha:wi clients (including hotel support, food, and transportation), as directed by Advocates and approved by Supervisor. Ensure all check requests and other financial paperwork are completed as required.

·       Book all training and travel for Yeha:wi staff, as directed by Advocates and Supervisor.

·       Work with Yeha:wi program staff on as needed basis and support Elder Facilitators as needed.

·       Attend Staff Talking Circles, Cultural Workshops, and trainings.

·       Actively participate in Mother Nation events including powwows, fundraisers, and outreach.

·       Coordinate workshops, Yeha:wi Healing Circle in north Puget Sound tribes.

 

Qualifications

·       Associate degree or three years equivalent work experience, with a strong administrative background, preferably with Native organizations offering social services.

·       Strong oral and written communications skills.

·       Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.

·       Sensitivity to the cultural integrity of Mother Nation clients and ability to maintain confidentiality.

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

·       Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care and/or multi-abuse trauma and the importance of role modeling behavior.

·       Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

·       Self-care attributes.

·       Knowledge of general office procedures.

·       Dependable transportation with valid Washington State Driver’s License.
